Herbs for Bladder Control
Herbs are plants that are use for many purposes. Typically it is use as spices, medicine for different illnesses and for spiritual reasons. Chinese people are mostly known to use herbs in different ways. It oftentimes serves as an alternative medicine. Almost all parts of an herb has benefits; from the leaves to the bark, roots, seeds and flowers. It contains phytochemicals that have power to influence the body. They are taken in smaller quantities because large amount could be poisonous to the body.
Use of herbs depends on what illness you have. There are different kinds of herbs for different types of illnesses. Herbs for bladder control include magnesium, pumpkin, cornsilk horsetail and buchu. Pumpkin is found to be helpful in improving bladder control in women as well as prostate health in men. The seeds have phytoesterols or phytosterols and fatty acids. Phytoesterols are compounds that lower cholesterol and helps strengthen the bladder muscles. Fatty acids decrease bad cholesterol while enhancing the good cholesterols. Magnesium works by controlling the bladder’s involuntary contraction. It is recommended to be taken before going to bed to help control the urge to urinate in the wee hours of the night.
Cornsilk has maysin, carvacrol, polyphenols and flavanoids which are effective in maintaining cholesterol levels and in detoxifying the bladder. It works better if paired with buch herb. Buchu is a diuretic kind of herb. It specifically treats urinary tract infections and inflammations. It is a good bladder controller because it greatly affects the relaxation and contraction of the bladder muscles. It contains diosphenol which is a good cleanser for urinary tracts and bladder. It is also effective in prevention of incontinence because it strengthens the weak bladder muscles.
Horsetail is also a diuretic and at the same time calms down the lining of the urinary tract. It controls the spasm of bladder muscles and decrease voiding frequency. When taking horsetail it should be coupled with plenty of fluid and should not be taken for a long period of time especially if you are drinking alcohol because it decreases vitamin B6 in the body.
